Family tree▼ Facts and Events
birth parents: Patrick Teevan and Unknown Of Derryleague, Parish of Urney, Co Cavan. Thomas furthered his holdings when he leased land in Derryleague on 25 Sep 1743, at an annual rate of £12/5/-. Eventually he split the family plot between two of his sons, Thomas and James; two other sons (namely John and Barnard) farmed at Drumullig and Kilnaglare, which are both near Butlers Bridge. All four sons' farm sites were within a few miles of each other. Remnants of the old farm buildings are still evident. In 1992 part of the original Teevan land was being farmed by Patrick Lawlor whose wife was a direct descendant of Thomas. There are traces of two houses only a few hundred yards apart, and nearby are the remains of a hill fort. Which ruin might have been occupied by Thomas the elder is not clear, but these were the residences of the eldest sons. and the heirs of Thomas of Derryleague, at one time. |
