    "Thomas (Stow), Braintree, eldest s. of the first John, b. in Eng. ar. co. 1638, m. 4 Dec. 1639, at Roxbury, Mary Gragg, or Griggs, had John, b. 3 Feb. 1641; and Mary, 6 Feb. 1643; by 1648, or earlier, rem. to Concord, there freem. 1653, thence a. 1654, to Middletown, had, also, Thankful, Eliz. Nathaniel, Samuel, and Thomas. His w. d. 21 Aug. 1680, and he d. prob. early in 1684, as inv. is of 23 Feb. in his will names only John, Nathaniel, and Thomas as his s. and Samuel Bidwell, h. of his dec. d. Eliz. Perhaps his est. was too small to give any pt. to two other m. ds. or they may have had full shares on m. A d. says Hinman, 243, m. Samuel Bidwell; Mary m. Spaulding; and Thankful m. a Hill, perhaps John, the sec. of Guilford."

    The last Will & Testament of Thomas Stow sen., Middletown: Imprimis. I give to my son John Stow one parcell of Land in Middletown on the West side of the West River, both that within and that without the fence, which is mine. More over I give to my sayd son my great Kettle after my decease. More over I give him the one halfe of my great Lott at the Streits Hill. I give to my son Nathaniel, besides my house, Home Lott in the Boggy meadow Quarter which I made sure to him by a former Contract, that is, to him & to my sonn Thomas & Samuel Biddoll, the other halfe of my great Lott at the Streight Hills, & my halfe mile Lott on the east side of the great river, to be divided equally amongst them. Moreover I give to my son Nathaniel all my household Goods after my decease, peaceably to enjoy, with all my part in the Cattell & Swine; & that (this) is my will & full Intent, I witness by setting to my hand.

    "Moved to Concord in 1648, owning a farm of 666 acres with his brother Samuel, between Fairhaven Pond and the Sudbury line; 'south of Fairhaven and east of the River'. His two houses were … sold in 1660 to his brother-in-law John Pierrepoint, for 110 pounds sterling. Stow moved to Middletown, Conn. in 1654. … On Feb 15 1670 he received a grant of land from the town on the condition that he build a house on it within two years. … it was located in 'Middletown Upper Houses', now Cromwell, Conn."
