Thomas Sparrow was the son of Henry and Lucy (Hanks) Sparrow. He appears to be born about 1798 and was most likely born in Mercer County, Kentucky as his parents resided in that location when the 1800 Kentucky Tax list was created. It is highly possible that Thomas died in Anderson County, Kentucky as this is the location where he married his second wife, Mary Smith, sister to his first wife Sally Smith. In January 1855, Thomas Sparrow signed his will, listing his wife as Polly (Mary Sparrow) and his children as George, Susan Ragland, William, Green Berry, Thomas, Henry, Michael, James, Ailcy Lavinia, Leven Marrat, Elizabeth and Martha Ellen. His will was then probated on 4 February 1857.
