  3. ↑ His birth year is calculated from the probable birth year (1762) of his eldest son, Levin SHORES, using the assumption that he was about age 25 at that time. The place of birth is estimated from the fact that Edward SHORES, a possible father of Thomas, was know to have been a resident of Dorchester Co., although he also appears in some Somerset Co. Tax Lists in the 1730s. However, this parentage has not been reliably established, and Thomas could as easily have been born in Somerset County, Worcester County or Sussex County, Delaware.
