Thomas Copps was baptised on 26th July 1730 at Letchworth in Hertfordshire, son of Elizabeth Copps, formerly Shambrook, and her husband Henry Copps, a labourer. His parents had married at the nearby village of Graveley the previous year, and it would appear the family returned to Graveley some time after Thomas's baptism.

When Thomas was less than two years old his mother died and she was buried at Graveley.

Thomas himself died as a child of about eleven years old. He was buried at Graveley on 3rd July 1741.
