Thomas Orville Seaver, a resident of Pomfret VT, enlisted as a Captain in the Union Army on 24 May 1861, accepting a Commission in Company F, 3rd Infantry Regiment of Vermont. His birth date was listed as 23 December 1833, and his death date as 11 July 1912 in Woodstock VT. He transferred on 13 August 1861 from Company F to Company S. He was promoted to Full Major on 13 August 1861, and to Full Lieutenant Colonel on 27 September 1862. He was promoted to Full Colonel on 15 January 1863, effective 2 February 1863.
