Alias:<ALIA> /Savery/ Family Tree Maker Online: GenealogyLibrary.com Book, A Genealogical and Biographical Record of the Savery and Severy Family by A.W. Savary, The Collins Press, Boston, 1830, Call Number: R929.2 S26: THOMAS3 SAVERY (Samuel2, Thomas1), born (probably in Rochester) Oct. 3, 1681 O. S; married Dec. 14, 1705, by Rev. Roland Cotton, Esther Saunderson or Saunders; the latter name being no doubt an abbreviation of the former, as we see the two forms often interchanged in the Old Colony records. She was, perhaps, daughterof Henry, of Sandwich. We have seen that he was living at Rochester at the age of eighteen, but removed to the "Agawam plantation," where in a deed datedMarch 6, 1727, from Micah Gibbs, he is described as of Plymouth, husbandman.Agawam was then a part of Plymouth; hence the recording of his children's births at Plymouth. He was quite conspicuous in the affairs of the infant plantation, and died there about 1731. His oldest son, Uriah, administered on his estate, which was in- ventoried at: 162. 0. 0. CHILDREN. I. MARY4 [Mercy], b. June 21, 1706; m. Ichabod Sampson, whose parents were Samuel Sampson and Mercy, daughter of Obadiah and grand-daughter of Samuel Eddy. 1A II. URIAH, b. april 30, 1708. 1B III. THOMAS, b. April 26, 1710. IV. LYDIA, b. July21, 1712; m. Thomas Bates, of the Agawam plantation. Ch.: (1) Sarah5, b. Dec. 6, 1737. (2) Mercy, b. Nov. 13, 1739. (3) Lydia, b. Jan. 16, 1747. (4) Patience, b. March 23, 1754; m. May 4, 1771, John Carver. (5) Margaret, b. May 8,1756. (6) Samuel, b. Aug. 11, 1758. V. ESTHER, b. April 2, 1715; in. 1735, Lemuel Jackson, of Plymouth. 1C VI. Samuel, b. Aug. 18, 1718. VII. MEHITABLE, b. April 15, 1721. Pg 171: Conclusive proof has at length been found thatThomas Savery, born Oct. 3, 1681, was son of Samuel(2), Thomas (1). In a work entitled, "Soldiers in King Philip's War," by George Madison Bodge, page 440, the following entry is quoted under date 1733: "Thomas savery of Plymouth, for his father Samuel," a grant of land No. 7 in Narragansett Township, now Gorham, Me. In 1675, when the soldiers were mustered to march against the Narragansett fort, a procolamation was made to them that if they took the fortthey should have a grant of land besides their pay. In 1685, a petition was sent to the General Court for the land, and it was assigned, but not individually. In 1727, a petition for partition and allotment was made. At this date probably no other son of Samuel was living, and six years afterwards, 1733, when the allotment was made, Thomas himself had died, of which the authoritiesmay not have been aware. His son Uriah administered on his estate, May 21, 1731. His daughter who married Ichabod Sampson was probably Mercy, not Mary..
