Thomas Pullen 1735- 1811
Thomas Pullen, was one of the founding Justices of the Newly formed Bedford County, Virginia. He married Peggy Adams, daughter of John Adams of Bedford County according to the Will of John Adams probated in Bedford Co., Va. January 23, 1793 (W.B. 2 p. 187). Thomas owned land on Otter River in Bedford Co. and he also owned land on Lick River and Elk Creek. (Bedford Deed BK. 2, 1762, 1764, 1767). Thomas migrated to Bedford sometime before 1754, but did not remain. Some point in time around 1792 he moved to Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Thomas Pullen's only son William Pullen, joined the Revolutionary armed forces of Virginia from Bedford Co. After the death of Moses Pullen his brother, Thomas, then moved to nearby Pittsylvania Co., Va. His approixmate date of moving can be told from the places of marriage of his six daughters named in his will. (Wills of Pittsylvania Co., Va 1811; also the Dalton Register, 14 William and Mary Col. Mag. (2), p. 42.) The will of Thomas Pullen in Pittslvania Co., Va. does not appear in the standard indexes to Va. wills. Note: James O'Brien states he obtain a copy from the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Pittsylvania County, Virginia..
