On Thursday, November 30. Mr. Thomas Paltridge (father of Captain Paltridge) who is an old and much-respected resident in this district, was driving a light spring cart into a yard, when the wheel slipped from a plank which covered a gutter, and he was thrown to the ground in front of the wheel, which passed over his body. He was so much shaken that serious doubts were entertained of his recovery until Saturday evening. Since then he has shown symptoms of improvement and is progressing favourably.
