Arrived in Wgtn 1/3/1842 on Birman age 32 . Mary Ann listed as age 34. Application for NZCoyAssisted emmig in 1841 [Ref 3526] lists self as Brickmaker from Hallfields,Bilston, Staffs.Embarkation number 1814. Three children 8,6,1. Brother in law, Wm Tonks, gave same address and was application number 3527 and travelled on Bilston as well --- obviously family decision to migrate. Morgan family living in Bilston on Census night 1841. Eldest children [John and William] born in Bilston so they were obviously living there from the time of their marriage [1832] to the time of their departure for NZ [in 1841] Ballotted Sect 42 Tawa Flat 1856 - passed to son John 1872 [111 acres]. House just north of the stream that runs under main road just beyond the junction with TawaSt [old Station Rd] , on the east s ide of the road just opposite the 'Bull & Bush' . 1848 lists self as Shoemaker. 1854 lists as Farmer and Shoemaker. Buried behind Methodist Church in JVille with Mary andGeorge. Death notice NZ Mail 4 Sept 1875. Calc of which Thomas: 1. Age recorded by NZCOY was 32 - it is age given at time of application which was clearly a few months before departure in Oct 1841 - realistically June / July 1841. Means born between June / July1808 and June / July 1810. Likely record made in England on application thus between Sept/Oct1808 and Sept/Oct 1809. 2. Gravestone says died 1876 [actually 27/8/75] at age 67. Based onactual DOD and correct age at death was 67 as recorded, then bornbetween Aug 1807 and Aug 1808. Only Thomas Morgan born in Dawley area is Thomas s/o Thomas and Ann - but DOB does not match known information. On 1848 and 1856 Port Nich Jury lists as "Shoemaker" of Porirua Road
