    DEATH DUE TO ACCIDENT

    Thomas McCullough died at the Powers & Osborne Hospital i n this city last Monday night, his death being caused fro m injuries he sustained by a fall from the top of the outsi de stairs landing at the Central Hotel in this city, abou t ten weeks ago. Particulars of the accident were given i n the Chronicle at the time. He made a brave fight agains t death, and he wanted to live, but surrounded by his thre e sons, in the small hours of the morning, his spirit quiet ly slipped away and a loyal friend and father lay cold i n death. Mr. McCullough was engaged in the live stock bus iness at Latimer for ten or twelve years past, and probabl y bought and shipped more live stock than any other man i n the county. Previous to that time he resided on his far m in Hamilton Township.

    His death, while expected for several weeks, will cause dee p regret among his hundreds of acquaintances thru out thi s county. He had an exceptionally jovial disposition and i n his daily life he was always sowing rays of sunshine amon g those with whom he came in contact. He was active in bus iness and political affairs and was strong and outspoken i n his convictions. He was one of the most loyal men in th e county and was most happy when he was doing some favor t o his friends.

    He was born in Donegal County, Ireland, April 14, 1852. Wh en fourteen years of age, in company with his sister, Anna , he came to America and to Iowa and Franklin County, livin g with the family of the late Andrew Hamilton, in Hamilto n township, for some years. In 1876 he was married to Mis s Clarinda Baker and for some time they resided near Uppe r Maynes Grove. Mrs. McCullough died on November 6, 1888 . He purchased a farm in Hamilton Township many years ag o which he improved and still owned at the time of his deat h, his son, Andrew T. McCullough, having been in charge o f it for several years past.

    He is survived by his three sons, Andrew T., of Hamilton To wnship, John B., of Windom, Minnesota, and Frank O., of Nas hwauk, Minnesota, his mother, who is eighty-eight years o f age and lives at the old home in Ireland, and four brothe rs: Alexander McCullough, of New York; John McCullough, Was hington, D.C.; Andrew McCullough, of County Donegal, Irelan d, and James McCullough, of Colorado.

    The funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Ple asant Ridge Church, conducted by Rev. Dewitt Clinton, of th is city, and burial will be made in the Reeve Cemetery.
