Thomas John Perowne was born on August 23, 1868 at Stalbridge, Dorset, England the son of Thomas Thomason Perowne the Rector of Stalbridge and his wife Mary Gillespie.

Educated at Haileybury School he was admitted to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge on October 1, 1886, obtaining his B.A. in 1889 and M.A. in 1894.

Thomas was ordained a deacon in 1892 and a priest in 1893 with his first appointment as Curate of St Margaret's with St Peter's, Lowestoft, Suffolk running from 1892 to 1902. From 1902 to 1904 he was Curate of Holy Trinity, Brompton and Curate of Kelsale with Carlton, Suffolk, 1904-5. His last post as a Curate was from 1905 to 1913 as Curate of Christ Church, New Catton, Norfolk, which from 1910 to 1912 be combined with the post of Domestic Chaplain to the Bishop of Norwich.

In 1913 at Norwich, Thomas married Joan Evelyn Patterson. The couple moved to Hindringham where he was the new Vicar. In 1927 he was appointed rector of Starston, a position he held until1945. During this period he also held the positions of Rural Dean of Redenhall from 1927 to 1930 and Honourary Canon of Norwich from 1929 to 1937.

Thomas was appointed Archdeacon of Norwich in 1937 which he held until 1951 when it is reported that he was living at Old Hall, Framingham Earl. Thomas John Perowne died in 1954.
