Person:Thomas Jackson (90)

From Pat Coffman: "Birthdate from stone. Old stones are hard to read. Thomas' sister, Mary Ann is said to be born 22 Feb 1817." His marker also says he died at age 57 yrs, 5 mos & 11 days which does calculate to birth date of 25 Dec 1817. So the birth date is most likely correct.

The record of Thomas Jackson at www.findagrave.com says he was born in 1817 in Clark County, Indiana. The lettering on the tombstone dates in the picture is illegible but is enough to indicate that this is the grave of the Thomas Jackson who married Rhoda Wilson. I, Janie, do not have any documentation that this Thomas is the son of Zephaniah Jackson and Fanny Kendall, but the typed record at find-a-grave says this Thomas is their son. Also Thomas' father Zephaniah, Zeph's wife Fanny and Thomas' wife Rhoda are the only Jacksons in Wood Twp, Clark Co., Indiana, 1850 census, who were born in Virginia. If anyone has other information to verify this, I would appreciate your contacting me.

Note all the census records below say Thomas was born in Kentucky - not Clark Co., Indiana as above. Judging by these census records, Thomas and Rhoda did not have surviving children.

1870 Census Wood, Clark Co., Indiana Jackson, Thomas 53 M W farmer KY (1817) Jackson, Rhoda 43 F W keeping house VA (1827)
