  • Pages 162-64. 24 July 1740. Thomas Jackson of Orange County to Richard Mauldin son-in-law and Sarah Mauldin wife of said Richard Mauldin, own daughter of Thomas Jackson, both of same county. For natural love and affection. During the term of their lives with condition they neither sell, leas or rent out the land. 100 acres, one acre adjoining the mill accepted [sic, excepted] out of the bounds... in the little fork joyning on the Rapperdam (Rappidan) River... on a hill by Thomas Jackson's fence... on a branch... Unto my son Joshua Jackson one Negro boy Ned.
My whole estate to my well beloved wife Margaret Jackson without any interuption of the longest liver.
My son David and Joshua Jackson executors, to have the liberty for the olfins [orphans?] to bid at the day of sale and to be equally divided amongst my children.
A legacy to be delivered to my son Joshua Jackson, one Negro wench Jude.
To my son Joseph Jackson one Negro wench Jenn.
To my grandson Joshua Jackson one bay mare Dugg and my bridle and saddle; after the decease of Thomas and Margaret Jackson his wife likewise two Negro boys Michael, Tobe.
