Will of Thomas Hughes, Sr.
- Pages 362-63. Will of Thomas Hughes Senr., being very weak and in a declining condition, dated 2 Aug. 1765.
- Unto my son Thomas Hughs that I had by my first wife Frances five shillings and no more.
- Unto my son John Hughes that I had by my said first wife Frances five shillings and no more.
- Unto my daughter Ann Strother that I had by my first wife Frances five shillings and no more.
- The said Thomas Hughes, John Hughes and Ann Strother had before what I thought proper to give them.
- All the rest of my estate to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Hughs till my youngest child comes to the age of twenty one years and then my said wife Elizabeth to keep the third part of my estate to herself and the other two thirds to be equally divided between my last wife's children viz. Francis Hughes, Anthony Hughes, Matthew Hughs, William Hughs and Thomas Hughs the younger. After my present wife's decesse she may divide her thirds amounst my children as she thinks fit.
- My desire is that if my wife for any particular necessity may sell one of my Negroes but not if she can do without [sic].
- My well beloved wife Elizabeth Hughes executrix and John Threlkeald and Christopher Threlkeald executors.

- 26 June 1766. Presented into court by Elizabeth Hughs and John Thrilkeald. Proved by John Lowen and Robert Dawson. Executrix and executor with Robert Dawson, Luyn Banks and Thomas Morrison entered into bond.
