Disambiguation

This Thomas Gragg has been confused by some researchers with his UNCLE Thomas Gragg, Sr. (abt. 1761-bef. Nov. 1827) of Greene & Cocke County, Tennessee. Some have conflated the two and have given this Thomas Gragg the birthyear and birthplace of the other. Although both Thomas Gragg's married women named Nancy Crow [which no doubt created the confusion], there are many records and many U.S. Census Records, proving that they are two completely different Thomas Gragg's and also two completely different Nancy Crow's.

Thomas Gragg was born abt. 1795 in Cocke County, Tennessee, the son of Henry Gragg (1755-1824) of Greene County & Cocke County, Tennessee, and Henry's first wife who has yet to be identified. Thomas married Nancy Crow (1798-1861) abt. 1819/20 in Tennessee. [U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900]. They had ten children together, all but the first 2-3 children were born in Missouri.

Note: there has been considerable confusion surrounding Thomas Gragg, conflating his date of death with his Uncle, Thomas Gragg (abt. 1761-bef. 1827) who also married a woman named Nancy Crow, but there are many records [including U.S. Census Records] showing that the Thomas Gragg buried in the Gragg Cemetery in Bates County, Missouri was NOT born in 1761, they clearly show this Thomas Gragg was born 1795 in Tennessee.
