1. Thomas Meriwether1 Gilmer was born 1763. Thomas died 1817 at 54 years of age.

He married Elizabeth Lewis April 21, 1783. Elizabeth was born January 26, 1765. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Lewis and Jane Strother. Elizabeth died 1829 at 64 years of age.

Thomas Meriwether Gilmer and Elizabeth Lewis had the following children:

3 ii. Thomas Lewis Gilmer. He married twice. He married Nancy Harvie. He married Mrs. Anne Harper. 

4 iii. William Benjamin Strother Gilmer. William died May, 1890. He married Elizabeth Marks July 21, 1824. Elizabeth was born January 11, 1809. Elizabeth was the daughter of Meriwether Marks. 

5 iv. James Jackson Gilmer. He married Elizabeth Jordan. 

6 v. Walker Gilmer. 

7 vi. Eliza Gilmer. 

8 vii. Edward Hampden Gilmer. 

9 viii. Mary Meriwether Gilmer was born 1786. She married twice. She married Warren Taliaferro. Warren was born 1760. Warren died 1820 at 60 years of age. She married Nicholas Powers. 

10 ix. George Rockingham Gilmer was born Wilkes Co., GA April 11, 1790. George died November 15, 1859 at 69 years of age. He married Eliza Frances Grattan 1822. Eliza was the daughter of Maj. Robert Grattan. 

+ 11 x. Charles Lewis Gilmer was born December 26, 1790. 

+ 12 xi. Col. John Gilmer was born 1792. 

13 xii. Lucy Ann Sophia Gilmer was born 1801. Lucy died January 9, 1887 at 85 years of age. She married Benajah Smith Bibb 1819. Benajah was born September 30, 1796 Elbert Co., GA. Benajah died February 17, 1884 at 87 years of age. (See Benajah Smith Bibb for the continuation of this line.)
