{Article was copied from the Pella Publisher}. Tom Downing, Funeral services were Monday afternoon from the First Baptist Church in Pella for Tom Downing, 35, who died Thursday. Downing was publisher of the Pella Chronicle and a former employee of the Guthrie Center Newspapers. He was the son-in-law of Mrs. Bessie McLuen. Survivors include his wife Helen Ruth, two children John 14 and Kelly, 8; his parents the Robert Downings and a brother Robert, all of Indianola. Downing was news editor of the Guthrie Center Newspaper and had served as publisher at LaPorte City, Marion and editor at Knoxville before assuming the publishing duties at Pella four years ago.
