Dickson's Will
In the Name of God Amen the sixteenth day of September 1763.
I Thomas Dickson of Halifax County being sick of Body of Sound Memory therefore call unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows Revoking and Enuling [sic.] by these presents all and every Testament and Testament Will and Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word and this to be taken only for my last will and Testament and none other that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recomend my Soul to God ___ and for my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in the Christian as my Executors think fit nothing doubting but at the General resurrection shall receive the same by the mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it pleased ___ obligement in this lifetime I give devise and dispose of the same in the manner form as follows that is to say first I will that all those debts and ___ I oew in right or consecence? to any manner of Person or Persons whatsoever shall be will and truly contended and paid ordain to be paid within convenient time after my decease by my Executors hereafter named.
I give bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Redmon one Shilling Sterling
I leave and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Dickson one Shilling Sterling
I leave bequeath unto my son Benjman Dickson one horse named Lugy.
I lend and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Dickson the Plantation I now live on during her life together with all the Goods and Chattles also negro wench named Chamberly that doth belong unto me and after her decease and all to be left unto my Daughter Ann Dickson providing that she marrys.
She shall find sufficient maintenance for the Orphand as the Executors think fit.
I Care? and appoint William Douglass and Benjamin Dickson to be my only and sole Executors of this my last will and Testament this and none other to be my last will and Testament ___ hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above more all after the decease of the widow all is __ the __ whole Estate mentioned mansored?

This will was presented in Court by William Douglass [one of] the Executors herein named and Benjamin Douglass Son & Heir at Law to the Testators being in Court __ to the proof of the said Will & ___ under and ___ into [many words undecipherable in remainder] established as the will of the Testator and the ___ the said William Douglass made Oath to __ __ according to Law and on his motion Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate __ in due form.
