Facts and Events
Thomas Corfield became a shepherd and worked at Bomere Farm, Bayton Hill for a prosperous farmer called Jones. Much to Mr. Jones' displeasure Thomas was secretly married to his daughter Eliza at a dual ceremony with his brother Richard. The rift with the Joneses ws never wholly healed although Eliza returned to her parents for the birth of her eighth child, Edward. In 1867 Thomas was a shepherd working for Dyke Dennis at Hafod Farm, Johnstown and eventually worked for Frank Lloyd of the Plassey. While he was living at Stonebridge next to the River Dee he suffered a serious back injury which left him partly crippled. In 1881 the family was living in Bangor, Denbighshire where Thomas worked as a shepherd. NOTE: Most places referred to are in Shropshire. |
