Thomas Conaway was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Thomas served as private in John McGuire's company, and as a lieutenant in Capt. Thomas Bells's company of the Regiment of Continental troops comanded by Col. Grayson. He later transferred to a Regiment commanded by Col. Nathanial Gist. Thomas died in Harrison County, Virginia and is buried at Willey Cemetery, Chatham Hill, Farmington WV. He married Sarah Dew on 9 Jan 1783. Sarah was born in Hampshire County, Virginia to Samuel and Elizabeth Dew. Sarah Conaway is reported to be buried by his side. A marker was erected on Thomas Conaway's grave by the Morgan Morgan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1937. Elizabeth Estlack Mullett a 4th great granddaughter of Thomas Conaway applied for a Bronze Military Marker and with the assistance of her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson erected it on 10 Feb 2013.
