On 18 April 1635, "Linen weaver Tho: Chittingden," 51, "uxor Rabecca Chittingden," 40, and "2 children", "Isack Chittingden," 10, and "Hen: Chittinden," 6, presented a certificate from the minister of Wapping and were enrolled at London for passage to New England on the Increase. There are, however, no Chittenden entries in the Wapping parish register, so acquiring the certificate there may have been a matter of convenience.
