  2. Source:Cutter, William Richard. Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, Vol. 1, p. 318, describes the activities of Thomas in the Revolution, noting that he was disabled and his death was reported as "lately deceased occasioned by ye hardships and difficulties he underwent in ye late expedition under Capt. Tyng, being taken sick and dieing at Charlestown." The problem is that Capt. Tyng's snow-shoe expedition was in 1703, not in the Revolution, and this exact wording comes from a petition of the widow of James Blanchard, not the widow of Thomas Bennett (see NEHGR, Vol. 93, p. 167).
