As part of his father's estate, he received on 21 Mar, 1674 from William Hubbert, the "home lot" of 3 acres - The deed stating "...ye fore named Weliam Hubbert do here in for & in consideration & full satisfaction of ye remaining part of of his part or portion due him out of ye estate of his deceased father John Austen." He assigned this bill of sale to his brother (in-law) Joseph Finch of Greenwich, on 28 Oct 1674. Notes: Bought two acres at Mianus Neck from Jonathan Lockwood, Sept. 28, 1673 *(Gr); home lot from John Marshall, Jan. 18, 1685 (making property over to brother, John, same day); home lot and other property from Samuel Peck, Jan. 18, 1685, and sells same to Francis Thorne, Dec. 14, 1686; buys 3 acres from William Hubbard, June 19, 1674, and assigns same to brother-in-law, Joseph Finch, Oct.28, 1674. Thomas removed to town of Bedford, New York, living there 1686-1697. He removed to Town of Bedford, N.Y., living there 1686-1697. In 1680 inhabitants of Christ Church Parish taken 22 Dec. 1679 includes Thomas Austin 5 acres. At a town meeting in Bedford February 23d. 1701/2 the town by a major vote dothgrants [sic] that Mr. John Copp shall have his home lott. for forty nine shillings that ye town owed to him, and he is to have it for him and his forever.     In 1685 the general court of Connecticut issued an order to the effect, that all towns should take out patents in due form, and that the same should be legal evidence of their rights. Before the 28ih of January, 1688, the town ordered that as much money should be raised as may be necessary to pay for a patent. It will be seen, however, that the patent was not granted un til May, 1697. The names of the inhabitants including the re sident proprietors of Bedford in 1690, numbered thirty-one. Their names are as follows : William Clark, John Brown, John Holmes, Sen., John Miller, jun., Richard Ayres, Jonathan Miller, John Holmes, jam, John Ambler, Abraham Wildman, David Mead, Isaac Denham, Daniel Jones, Jeremiah Andrews, Caleb- Webb, Richard Wescote, Thomas Asten, Daniel Simpkins, David Clason, William Clark, John Higgins, Abraham Ambler. Upon the 25th May, 1692, Catonah, Noname, Wappowaham, Wewewana- poage, Chuckheag and Pommescecan, sell to Daniel Simpkins of Bedford, a certain piece of land lying west of the bounds of Bedford, that is to say, half a mile square, as it is already marked and laid out by the Indians, and boun ded as followeth, viz. east by the bounds of Bedford, and south by a brook run ning off from the west ridges, and west and north as it is marked by the above- said proprietors.4 Witnessed and delivered in the presence Catonah M his mark. of us, Stephen Holmes Wappowham r*< his mark.     Feb 28 1716-7-Thomas Austin of Stamford sells for £4 to Isaac Weed of Stamford land below Hegroech Hill 2/3 (rds) of parcel sold by Samuel Seely to John Austin,Jr., as the records said land lying in partnership between said Austin and Joseph Huntt, who owns other 1/3, the whole tract laid out by comitie. Bounded East by Highway, West by Great Brook, North by Benjamin Hait,Jr., and South by Obadiah Seely.
