"American hunters traversed Henry County in 1828. The first permanent settlements were made in what is now Windsor Township, in the extreme northeast part of the county. Thomas Arbuckle and Thomas Kimsey are regarded as the pionneers; Arbuckle is said to have built the first cabin in 1830, about four miles west of the present town of Windsor; some contend that he was preceded in 1829 by Kimsey, who came from Johnson County, where others of his family had previous located. He made his home two miles south of Arbuckle. Matthew and James Arbuckle and Isom Burnett also came in 1830."
