"Early Settlers of Eastham" by Josiah Paine, found in Source:Library of Cape Cod history genealogy, p. 492: The will of Gov. Thomas Prence mentions his grandson Theophilus Mayo, youngest child of Nathaniel Mayo and Hannah Prence who was living with him and presumably continued to live with his wife Mary. Doubtless Theophilus went to Yarmouth with Mary after the Govenor's death, but apparently died before she did. The text of the will may be found at Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 3:203. Theophilus is given land, and after his widow dies, he is to get a mill bequeathed to her "for his Incurragement, to proceed in learning". Also "all my bookes fitt for him in learning". Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 6:230, says "The records of Yarmouth, Mass.m, contain this entry: "Mi's mary prince late wife of governor Thomas prince died upon the Ninth day of desember 1695 and was Buried iupon the leventh daye of ye said : 1695 :". I do not have the justification for Paine's statement that Theophilus died before widow Mary Prence, but I assume it is based on disposition of the mill property left his widow by Gov. Prence. --Jrich 11:42, 4 December 2008 (EST) References
