Theodore Howard Williams passed away peacefully on March 20, 2007, returning home to his Lord and family.
Ted lived his last 11 years at Fredericka Manor in Chula Vista, California, with his wife Bonnie, who preceded him in death in the year 2000. He was the son of Charles Arthur Williams and Dora Mae Crumrine Williams. Ted's uncle, Frank O. Williams, who died in 1979, started farming in the Imperial Valley in 1906, raising alfalfa, asparagus and hogs. Charles soon joined Frank, farming in Imperial Valley. In 1921 Charles died and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, El Centro, California.
Ted was born in Plato, Missouri, 98 years ago. He came to California permanently in 1928 and married Bonnie in 1939. As a young man, Ted started out in music as a banjo and guitar player in several bands. After his marriage, he worked for the Dennstedt Building Co., then as an agent for New York Life Insurance. He became the manager of the Dennstedt Electro Mart (one of San Diego's leading appliance stores), and later the owner of La Mesa Electro Mart. He was known for his impeccable work ethic, but he is best remembered for his keen sense of humor and practical jokes, his gardening, and just being a wonderful Dad.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Phyllis Williams Irwin, in 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Terri Michelsen of Wheeler, Oregon; Julie Smith of El Cajon, California; and Lisa Wynn of Denver, Colorado; one son, Tom Williams of Hanalei, Hawaii; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held on April 7, 2007 at the home of Julie Smith, 840 Pamela Lane, El Cajon, CA 92020. The family suggests contributions be made to San Diego Hospice.
