Dr. T. Van Lear Davis died Friday morning at his home at Greenville, after an illness of several weeks from affirmatives of old age. He was 77 years old and leaves a wife, who was Miss Sarah Brownlee, of near Greenville. Dr. Davis was a native of Augusta county and was a successful physician of wide experience and broad principles. For several years he was assistant physician at the Western State Hospital, being connected with that institution about the time of the civil war. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he distinguished himself for his scholarly attainments.
