Obituary: Died April 8, 2000 TRAVERSE CITY--Thelma May Schepperley, 79, of Traverse City, died very p eacefully at her home Saturday afternoon with her husband and daughters w ith her. Thelma had inspired others during the past four years with he r remarkable strength and courage in her battle with cancer. Born in Antrim County on May 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the l ate Rex and Sarah (Hounschell) Hughey. Thelma married Don Schepperly o n March 3, 1943; the marriage began a lifetime of exciting, wonderful a dventures. They lived in Ann Arbor,m Grayling, Detroit, Davison, and Midland b efore finally returning to Traverse City in 1975 where they owned Ameri can Drug and then the Prescription Shop. Thelma and Don enjoyed workin g together and travelling together. They spent several memorable winte rs in Arizona. Thelma loved flowers, especially African violets, which she enjoye d sharing with others. She also derived much enjoyment from Central Un ited Methodist Church where she valued her many fellowship friends. Devoted to her family, Thelma is survived by her husband, Don; two d aughters, Sharon Rainey of Chelsea and Jodie Rainey of East Lansing. Sh e is also survived by her two brothers, Leonard (Doris) Hughey of Mance lona and Charles (Millie) Hughey of Grand Rapids, along with several br others- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and g randnephews....
