Research Notes

  • Caution: The COOK'S CRIER June 1975 Page 695 listed a reading of North Monroeville Cemetery by Miss Eloise Barthold of Northwood Ohio. Thankful (Parker) Cooke is NOT on that list.
  • per Jeanne Wingert, 2012, who posted a photo of Thankful's headstone and wrote: Thankful Parker Cooke was the first person to be interred in the North Monroeville Cemetery. The land was donated by her husband, Asaph II Cooke at the time the community was known as Cook's Corners. The headstone is now deteriorating and difficult to read.

    104. ASAPH
    ASAPH COOK, son of Asaph and Sarah Parker Cook, married Thankful Parker, June 17, 1776 ; she was born in Wallingford, April, 1776 [sic]. They removed to Granville, N.Y. In 1818 they went to Ridgefield, Four Corners, Ohio, where he died in 1826, ae. 78. He was at the battle of Lexington, Mass., as were several of his brothers. His widow died in 1819.
