DEATH AT THANKSGIVING SERVICE Grand Haven Daily November 29, 1911 Just as the Thanksgiving services were beginning in the Christian Reformed Church in Spring Lake yesterday morning, Thomas Ruiter, a well known Ferrysburg man, succumbed to heart disease, sitting in his pew at the church. Mr Ruiter walked over from Ferrysburg to Spring Lake with H. Rozema yesterday morning and was apparently in his usual good health. The two went into the church and sat waiting in the pew for the service to start. Suddenly, he leaned forward and became unconscious just as the service began. It was seen at once that Mr. Ruiter was seriously ill and friends carried him out into the vestibule of the church where it was thought he might be revived. Dr, Mulder was called, but the unconscious man expired before any assistance could be rendered. The attending physician, however, pronounced the cause of death to have been heart disease. No inquest was deemed necessary and the body was taken to Ferrysburg. Deceased was 47 years of age and had lived in Ferrysburg for the last twenty years. He was very well known in Ferrysburg, Spring Lake, and Grand Haven. As far as can be learned, he had not been a sufferer from heart trouble up to the time of his sudden death. Deceased is survived by his wife and two small children. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon with services at home in Ferrysburg at 12 o'clock and at 1 p.m. in the Christian Reformed Church.
