Noel, Taylor - born 10/10/1751 in Essex County, Virginia, where entered service in Virginia Regiment; granted Pension 1833 in Garrard County, Kentucky, when resided there for abt. 20 years. F-S1240, R1824.

    State of Kentucky Garrard County Sct.
    On this 29 day of May 1833 before William Wheeler a Justice of the Peace for said County of Garrard and as such one of the Judges of the Garrard County Court, personally appeared Taylor Noel a resident citizen of Garrard County in the State of Kentucky, aged eighty-two years who doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
    He states, that he was born the 10th of January 1751 and that he entered the service of the United States in the year __ whilst Patrick Henry1 was Governor of Virginia and served a tour down to the Dragon & Dismal Swamp under the command of Captain Thomas Evins [Thomas Evans] – That he served three months in this Tour.
    That he again entered the service under Colonel Holt Richardson as a volunteer in the [indecipherable word or words] at the capture of Cornwallis [October 19, 1781] – in which tour he served I believe that it was three months –
    He resided in Essex County in the State of Virginia when he entered the service, and now resides in the County of Garrard in the State of Kentucky where he has resided for about 20 years – He has no documentary evidence in his possession in relation to his services and knows of no person living in the State of Kentucky by whom he can prove his services.
    He further states that he is now very old and infirm, too much so, to travel to the Garrard County Court and that his memory is greatly impaired, so much so that he cannot recollect many of the incidents attending his service.

    Ans – in Essex County Virginia the 10th January 1751 agreeable to my Father's Register
    Have you any record of your age and if so where is it
    I have my age recorded in my possession
    Where were you living when called into service, where have you been living since the
    revolutionary war and where do you now live?
    Ans. I lived in the County of Essex Virginia when I joined the service I now live in Garrard County Kentucky
    How were you called into service, were you drafted, did you volunteer or were you a substitute?
    Answer I went the first tower [tour] as came to my turn by a way of number I went as a volunteer in the Horse Corps my [answer ends here]
    State the names of some of the regular officers who were with the troops where you served, such Continental and militia regiments as you can recollect
    Ans. I recollect General De Lafayette commanded the troops who were at the siege of
    Cornwallis General Gams [?, Greene?] and believes that Henry Garnett was a regular Captain
    Did you ever receive a discharge from the Service and if so by whom was it given and what has become of it?
    Ans. I don't recollect that I ever received a discharge and if I did it is lost –
    State the names of the persons in your present neighborhood to whom you are known and who can testify as to your character for veracity and as to their belief of your revolutionary services –
    Ans. Allen Strewsbury and William Wheeler are two of my neighbors – and will have given a certificate in relation to said matter.
    [Veteran was pensioned at the rate of $20 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for service as a private for 6 months in the Virginia militia.]
