Tarlton Johnson is named in the 1795 will of his father, James Johnson in Granville County, North Carolina, as follows:
My will is that my wife give my younger son, Tarlton Johnson, three years schooling and if it cannot be done at home he is to be boarded out and to be paid out of my estate and if his mother and my executor think it best that after Talton has got his education to lend him out to a good trade till he is 21 years of age.
10 Feb. 1804 - Archer Johnson, Sr. placed in trust with Edmond Freeman personal property for benefit of Elizabeth Clardy during her lifetime, which he bought of Tarlton Johnson, son of Elizabeth. At her death, said Freeman, Elizabeth Womack & Sally Mitchell receive 1/3.
18 January 1806 - Granville Co, NC deed from Tarlton Johnson to James Downey, Sr for the part of the land willed to said Johnson by his father.
20 March 1808 - Tarlton Johnson sold Granville Co, NC land.
Tarlton Johnson was named in the Revolutionary War Pension File of his Father-in-Law, Thomas Quarles (1759-1832), as follows:
Quarles, Thomas - entered service abt. 1777, Lieutenant in Virginia Regiment; died 1/1/1810 ; Richard Reins with securitors William Burke & James Chadwick gave bond 1830 in King William County, Virginia, for inventory of soldier's estate, per County Justices of the Peace Henry Edwards & Charles H. Braxton; soldier married Nancy Butler & their only child was Alice who married Tarlton Johnson in North Carolina, Alice & mother having moved to Granville [County], North Carolina after soldier died per Revolutionary War soldier James Jones age 83 who made affidavit 1842 in King William County, Virginia, per County Justices of the Peace Charles Tompkins & Stephen Sutton, magistrates Corbin Braxton, Richard Gwathmey, James Fox & Fendall Gregory, County Court Clerk Robert Pollard & presiding Justice John Roane.
