Obituaries Tamera Nivens Tamera "Tami" Kathleen Nivens of 1613 First St. Florence, died A pril 26, 1985, at the age of 41. She was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Portland and has lived in this co mmunity since 1963. She was a member of Delta Gamma, St. Andrew s Episcopal Church and she organized the Rhody Run. She is survived by her husband, Lanny, and two daughters, Lindsa y and Heather, all of Florence; her parents, Morris and Evelyn M cEntee Jr. of Newport; two brothers, Larry and Bruce, both of Ne wport; and grandparents, Roxie McEntee and Bea Hayworth, both o f Hillsboro. Funeral services were held Monday, April 29 at the Florence Chri stian Church, with Rev. Stuart West officiating. Memorial contr ibutions may be made in her memory to Home Health Care in care o f Western Lane Hospital, P. O. Box 580, Florence, OR 97439. Mur phy-Musgrove Riverside Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Rhody Run organizer Tami Nivens dies at 41 Tamera "Tami" Nivens of Florence, one of the primary organizer s of the annual Rhododendron Festival Rhody run, died April 26 a fter a prolonged fight against cancer. The 41-year old Portland native was diagnosed as having cancer i n late 1980 and underwent a long period of chemotherapy and radi ation treatment. During her illness, she helped other women by encouraging them t o faithfully perform self examinations for cancer. Also durin g that time, she received strong support from her family and fri ends, which was important in her fight against the disease, acco rding to her friend and associate, Georgie Bumby. A member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Nivens helped organize the Rho dy Run in 1979. The event, sponsored annually by Delta Gamma, h as been a success with the number of participants increasing eac h year. Survivors include her husband, Lanny, and two daughters, Lindsa y and Heather, all of Florence; her parents, Morris and Evelyn M cEntee Jr. of Newport; two brothers, Larry and Bruce, both of Ne wport; and grandparents, Roxie McEntee and Bea Hayworth, both o f Hillsboro. Services were held at the Florence Christian Church on Monday, A pril 29, officiated by the Rev. Stuart West.@@S668@@
