- ↑ Mrs. W.B. Rooker, 90, Pioneer Citizen of City, Dies Here Monday
Mrs. W.D. Rooker, age 90, died at her home here Monday afternoon following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Rooker was born in Knoxville, Tenn., moving to Resaca during the Civil War. She moved with her family to Calhoun about 40 years ago, and had lived here for only a few months when Mr. Rooker passed away. Mrs. Rooker is survived by three daughters, Misses Maude, Tilla and Ola Bell Rooker; one son, Bart Rooker; one sister, Mrs. Linda Johnson, of Resaca; four nieces and four nephews. Funeral services were hold Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Y.A. Oliver and the Rev. E.L> Baskin officiating. Pallbearers were Otto Langford, Bob Hood, Charles Boness, Ray Smith, Julian Fain, Chick Hasson, Dr. M.M. Ellis, Arthur Robertson, A.R. McDaniel and Billy Owens. Interment was in the Resaca cemetery with Jackson Funeral Home in charge.
