Obituary

Knoxville Express, Knoxville, Iowa April 26, 1899 MRS. SYLVIA BISHOP. Died, at her home, two and a half miles west of Knoxville, Saturday, April 22, Mrs. Sylvia Bishop, aged 85 years and one day. Deceased was born April 21, 1814, in New Hampshire. Her father, Samuel Wines, removed to Ohio in 1818. She was married to James Bishop, and settled in this county in 1855. James Bishop died in 1880. They had four children, all of whom are living, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She united with the Presbyterian church when young, and was a consistent member until her death. Services were held at her late residence, Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Will E. Sloane, Ph.D., officiating. Interment in Graceland.
