At Pardee, Kan., Dec. 6th, 1880, of cancer, Sylvia Maxson, widow of the late Nathan Maxson of Farina, Ill., aged 66 years, 9 months and 10 days. She gave her heart to the Savior in early life, and for more than fifty years has lived a consistent Christian life. She, together with her companion, was one of the constituent members of the Seventh-day Baptist Church of Richburg, N. Y., and upon their removal to Farina, became constituent members of the church organized there. In the Spring of 1880, she came to Pardee to visit her children, and died after a long and painful sickness. During her sickness, she often said she had a hope in Christ, and was ready and willing to go if it was his will. The nature of her disease was such that she could not lie down for more than a month before her death. She died in her arm chair. A few hours before her death, she was asked if she knew she was going to leave us; she said, "I am in the hands of the Lord, bless his holy name." She leaves three sons and three daughters to mourn the loss of a tender and affectionate mother. Oh, the love of mother is sacred, and we do not know how much we love her until we are called upon to bid her farewell forever.
