Yale 1818, Valedictorian, after grad. to restore his health he traveled and home 2 or 3 years. Tutor Yale 1822-26; Prof. Math & Nat.Phil. Williams Coll. 1827-29; same at Amherst 1829-35. Trav.,resided in St.Croix, W.I. to regain his health (consumption), on his return he published "Letters from the West Indies". Returned home a confirmed invalid. He died of consumption. Wife and an infant died shortly before husband, young daughter died 1842. NOTE- ROR vol. 2 says Yale 1819, Root & Branch vol. 3 no 4 says 1818 |
