Sydney Gernstein, 67, 3965 N. Meridian Street, owner and operator of Gernco Construction Company, died April 4 at home. 

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, he had been a contractor and builder in the city since 1932 He was graduated from Purdue University in 1930 with a degree in chemical engineering.

He belonged to Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and Broadmoor Country Club.

Funeral services were held April 5 in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary with Cantor Robert Zalkin officiating. Burial was at Beth-El Zedeck Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, brother Sol Gernstein and sister Mrs. Bessie Pollack, both of Indianapolis, his son, Terry Gernstein of Washington, D.C., daughter Mrs. Anne Conn of Wilmette, Ill., and three grandchildren.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Dec 29 2024, 12:18:12 UTC
