Facts and Events
Research Notes
- Was Susanna a Morton (i.e. a sister of Ann Morton, first wife of James Rucker)? - Many trees report her as such, but to date, the proof is not there. For example, Ann Morton is listed in the 1807 Will of her father, John Morton. Susannah is NOT. Ann appears in other records connected to the Morton family. Susannah does NOT.

[Note of Caution: pos errors. Shows Susa Ann / Susannah / Susan Morton born in Amherst Co., VA married to James Rucker and states that James moved from VA to KY after his marriage. He evidently married to his first wife, Ann Morton, in VA. However, the marriage to his second wife, Susannah Sampson on 30 May 1814, occurred in Caldwell Co., KY. Again two wives may have been combined into one. Alice Rucker wrote in 1999 that Mrs.Whitley had admitted to many mistakes in her work and added that she was a very inexperienced genealogist when she wrote her book.]

[No headstone photo included as of Oct 2015. Contains error - gives Susanna's maiden name as Morton - this has not been proven and although poster was notified of this, she has not removed this maiden name. James Rucker, departed this life 5 July 1827, aged 61 years. ]
