Susan Saunders Langworthy, widow of the late Dea. Charles D. Langworthy, and daughter of William and Martha Saunders, was born in Petersburgh, N. Y., April 25th, 1810; was brought to Alfred by her parents when an infant, and when the country was new. She has seen the growth of Alfred from its primeval wildness to its present state, and has acted no small part in bringing about the marvelous change. She united, with her husband, with the First Alfred Seventh-day Baptist Church soon after its constitution, and removed with him to the Second Church soon after it was organized, and remained in earnest, active, and useful membership until her death, which occurred on the 30th of May, 1880, in the 71st year of her age. She was a woman of earnest piety, of conscientious conviction, and of exemplary life; a loving Christian, a devoted wife, and an affectionate mother. D. E. M.
