Susannah King was born about 1739 in old West Augusta Co., Virginia, now Hardy Co., West Virginia, and died about 1795-1797 in Clark Co. or Montgomery Co. (from Clark Co. in 1797), Kentucky. She married first Matthew George about 1754 in Hampshire Co., VA (now Hardy Co., WV). He died in 1781 and his will was probated in 1782 in Hampshire Co. He was a plantation and slave owner. Susannah and Matthew were parents of a possible six children: Martha. Hannah, James King, King George?, George, and Matthew.
Following the death of Marrhew she married Rev. Simon Wesley Cochrun about 1785 in Moorefield, Hampshire Co. or Hardy Co. which was created 17 Oct 1785 from Hampshire, Virginia (now Hardy Co., WV). It is said that Rev. Cochrun freed the slaves left Susannah by her first husband. Supposedly, Simon and Susannah went to Kentucky soon after they married as Simon was to serve as a Missionary for the Methodist Episcopal Church in Kentucky. They were parents of four known children: Effie, Abraham Wesley, John Wesley and Susannah who married Oliver Ellsworth a descendant of Moses Ellsworth, Sr.
