William Thomas m. Susanna Bates, d/o Edward Bates of Weymouth, b. Weymouth 6 Feb 1679, living 14 Nov 1746 [sic, see following comment.
[Note: the comment about living cites Plymouth deeds 40:17, 18 (however, nothing on p. 18 seems relevant and it is believed they intended to refer to pages 16 and 17, but these deeds involve Susannah Thomas jun'r, i.e., the daughter, and don't appear to have any involvement of the widow. And they shouldn't since they involve land inherited from the grandfather after the father died, so the widow wouldn't have any rights, only the children. In other words, the assertion about living is based on a misinterpretation. Three other deeds involve the children selling land inherited, this time from their uncle Josiah Thomas, of which, again, the widow would get no share. The deed 44:200 in 1753 still involves Susanna Thomas Jr., suggesting her mother was still alive then, but the deeds in 1765 52:163-4 show her name as simply Susanna Thomas, indicating her mother had probably died by that date.]
