Susanna Burruss was mentioned in the will of her grandfather, Richard Durrett (1705-1784), as follows:

Item. Whereas I have given my two granddaughters Sarah Flynt and Susanna Burras one Negro woman and increase I do exclude them from claiming any other part of my estate.

Note: the name of Susanna's father, who likely died sometime between approximately 1770-1780, has not been determined and needs additional research.
