to James Peek
Death[1] 26 Oct 1896 Overton County, TN

Liason from approx. 1838 forward. She and James were charged with lewdness in Sept. 1848. They were retried after a hung jury in June 1849, and the case was appealed to the TN Supreme Court. See James' notes for a transcript which offer details of the relationship.

At trial, she appeared with Thomas Maxwell and James Greenwood, presumably her lawyers or representatives. Since her son James was only 10 and the minutes call her a spinster, this was likely her brother. James Greenwood appears on the 1850 Overton Co, TN census as age 32, born TN, wife America, age 36, b. KY, with children Colonus, Mary, Nancy and John. Thomas Maxwell might be related to Sallie Maxwell, another supposed liason of James.
