Unsure of the exact date of birth. Listed in the Sallie DeWitt 1981
genealogy as "179?".
According to the Sallie DeWitt Genealogy (page 68B), he was interred
at the Coal Cemetery in Chismville, Logan County, Arkansas.
According to the "History of Benton, Washington, Carroll, Madison,
Crawford, Franklin, and Sebastian Counties, Arkansas"; published in
Chicago; by the Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889, page 1248 (Ft.
Smith, Arkansas Public Library), Stephen Hudson was a native of
Virginia, and after he married Martha Ragsdale he moved to Limestone
County, Alabama and located on a farm. The 1860 census, annotated by
Will Johnson on freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com, states that he was
from Limestone County Alabama. This may mean that he spetn time
there, but was actually born in VA , like the Goodspeed book says.
The 1860 census also puts his birth date at closer to 1790, rather
than 1975 as the Goodspeed book says. In 1852 he went to Arkansas and
settled on a farm in Franklin County.
