Facts and Events
He was called "Short Stephen" being one of the exceptional Hazards that could not boast of his six feet and great strength. Stephen Hazard adhered to the cause of the Crown during the war of 1776 and was one of those sent out of town for giving aid to the enemy. When allowed to return to the town, on his parole, he refused to serve when drafted. It is difficult to place his house or the place where his children were born. At one time he was the keeper of the lighthouse at Point Judith and at another time he was living in Jamestown. |
