Note: There may be a confusion here as to the wife of this Stephen Clayton (Mary Dennum) and that of his father also named Stephen Clayton. The wife of the Senior Stephen Clayton is given as Mary Denham. It is possible that Mary Dennum and Mary Denham are two different people, but it's more likely that people have confused the two Stephen Claytons, and identified the same person as their wives. Most likely its the Sr. Stephen Clayton that Mary was married to, but the possibility exists that he was married to someone else all together. Some people give his wife as "Elizabeth Poole", though this is uncommon. More research needed. Q 22:10, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
