    "1045 … Stephen (Chester), b. 28 Oct 1761 (Barbour citing VR 2:80a); bapt. 1 Nov 1761 (Wethersfield First Congregational Church Records, slip index citing JL:40); d. 26 Dec 1835, at age 74, bur. in the Village Cemetery, Wethersfield, Connecticut (Hale 53); m. 5 Nov 1788 (Wethersfield First Congregational Church Records, slip index citing 2:208) Elizabeth Mitchell, daughter of Stephen Mix Mitchell and Hannah Grant, b. 11 Sep 1770 in Wethersfield, Connecticut (Barbour citing 2:149), d. 22 Dec 1852, at age 82, bur. in the Village Cemetery, Wethersfield, Connecticut (Hale 53). He graduated from Yale College in 1780 with his brother Thomas. Following graduation, he settled in Wethersfield. He served for many years as Sheriff of Hartford County. According to his college biography, he 'maintained the family reputation as a gentleman of elegant bearing' (Yale Bios. 4:140)."
