In 1895 Minnesota State Census, Stephan is listed living with the John Lorsung family. He is listed in the 1900 U.S. Census in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In viewing the city directories, Stephan is listed in the 1898, 1899, and 1900 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, directories. Stephen Pikulik was not listed in any city directories or U.S. Census after 1900. I had a hard time finding him because his surname had been mispelled.

In July 2017, while researching at the Wisconsin Historical Society Library in Madison, Wisconsin. I was looking at the pre-1907 death index for Manitowoc County to see if I could locate a half-brother, Thomas Pikulik, or his children. Just above Pikulik was Pigulik, Stephen - 1901. I located the article about his accidental drowning and the surname was "Piqulik." The article mentioned the Coroner's office contacted his mother in Millerville, Minnesota. An email request to the Douglas County Historical Society regarding Stephen Pikulik and if he was buried in the county. Their response came back as his name was Stephen Beuculick. Listed below is an transcript from the Brandon Echo, dated 31 January 1901 (Millerville).

Last week the sad news reached here that Stephen Beuculick was drowned in Lake Michigan near Milwaukee. Beuculick was a young man about 26 years old, had lived here until two years ago when he accepted a position on a Lake Michigan steam on which he was faithfully tending to his duties when, on Jan. 22, the accident occurred. He is said to have slipped and dropped into the water and died before he could be rescued. Two sisters, one brother, and the mother are residing here at Millerville.
